Thank you very much for creating this group & the site,Dawn.
The information is very helpful. I've heard about those scams & spammers, I never knew 'em exactly. I've had a few invitation before but I always ignore 'em. 'Coz they asks me to pay this & that.
Now I know more about 'em, & I think we should make a list of them. But unfortunately I have deleted their massage, never thought that was useful now. Thanks.

I don't get that last comment, Delia - was it meant to be ironic??
If so, exactly what point were you making?? And if not, the same question.

sometimes the 'buyers' are chain hotel owners in Dubai!!! They always want to buy a lot of works for their newly built hotels.... some people should go to the www.getalife.com instead!

Thanks everyone for your input on this group.

I think if we all add the scammers email address's like David has kindly done, it will show us all who these people are.

Yes Mike I created the painting in the groups profile, The title is 'ABDUCTION'.

Thank you Dawn for this invitation . It is a good idea to get together info on scammers ! I got lot's of them through the years I'm on the net but with luck I was thieved out of only 1 painting and that by a legitimate gallery . Needless to say Ididn't work with them afterwards anymore . As luck would have it , they went bankruth and were closed down , but my painting with them !! From then on I allways look up in all possible places the galleries and people whom are asking for paintings to buy .
As a rule most people who are in a hurry to make the deal , are spammers .

thanks Dawn for your invite its very important to be aware of future scams relating to art, i've been in the past emailed with a few scams wanting to buy my artwork, usually from eastern europe and africa.

I have invited many people too my site. I thought it was alright to send invitations. Should we limit the number of invitations? I only send them to those people who are my friends on the net. Also I have been approached by one Gallery that sounds suspicious. How can we check this out to be safe? Thanks for the clarification. Karin Teresa

Good idea. One comment however - you say "1.The buyer is usually outside the US." What difference would that make if the seller were in Germany or Britain? Surely, what matters is that the buyer is somewhere with an effective police force and an extradition agreement in place.

Apart from that this group seems a good idea and I joined because I liked the icon. Did you make that?
