Saatchi, Can you teach art to the facebook generation?
http://www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk/blogon/view_video/2783/debate_at_t...
What a darn cheek, I think the art generation on facebook are doing just fine.
Now does this mean the children on facebook, or the many artists that are already sharing their work on facebook?
This video shows that "THE OLD SCHOOL" are only just waking up to technology and about time too.
In my book, they need to take those silly costumes off, drop their "know it all attitude" and wake up their senses , awareness & fast.
Facebook is merely an artists tool, like a brush, artists are using the tool.
So the answer is "NO" you can't teach art to facebook users, we already know what art is, we are expressing our art through a network on an internet connection.
It gives us mere artists some power back, not having to rely on Galleries or Biennials to invite us or rip us off.
We can share our work with friends, family, art dealers and collectors.
We can share our creative pain, our creative happiness, our creative spirit and inspire the next man who wishes he can paint.
So how can you teach art?
You can teach art to those who wish to take it up, to the young, to the old, they don't need to be on facebook.
I would like artists comments about this statement and to discuss Saatchi's debate.
