GEORGE “JO JO” MARENGO - The WORLD ART FOUNDATION (WAF) – WORLD ART EXPO 2009

I received this mail from the facebook art group "Fantastic Art" written by Christian De Boeck:

Our advice to artists is to have nothing to do with Marengo and the World Art Foundation (WAF) and World Art Expo 2009. After having his membership of this group deleted he has joined again in order to spam the group with his sales pitch for the foundation and expo. He has now been permanently banned from this group. Anyone wishing further information as to why is welcome to contact us.

What pretender Marengo has done is phish all the artists from my and other friends and their friends lists on Facebook, MySpace and elsewhere in order to send them the same standard laughable sales letter. He then, when he hasn’t even looked at your art, sends you the same insultingly stupid message: ”George Marengo wrote at 10:34pm Heiz [sic (actually, my friends name is HEINZ)], your work is amazing. I am happy to invite you to join the World Art Foundation“, when he clearly hasn’t bothered to look at your work or even spell your name correctly. (But you call this “professional”.) The bottom line is that his awards would be vanity awards with no standing in the serious art world. His magazines are also vanity publications filled with fluff pieces, i.e., thinly veiled advertorials for the party that the article is about. I would be embarrassed to be associated with such a project and no reputable established artist will be associated with it, and neither should you.”

Read the “fine print” in World Art Expo “Exhibition Rules” http://www.worldartfoundation.org/ExhibitRules.html, for example:
“1 – Accomplished artists with a limited budget but wish to exhibit. You may exhibit at the World Art Expo by sending ONE PIECE of artwork. You will receive all the proceeds (100%) if your art is sold during the expo. Unsold art, however, will be donated to the world Art Foundation’s Museum Fund*. (See more information at the bottom of this page.)”

So what incentive has Marengo got to sell your work when you have already paid an exorbitant fee (minimum $2,500 non-members $1,500 members if you commit this December) to exhibit and he gets to keep your work if it isn’t sold. This is simply criminal and scandalous.

BTW. The Hyatt Regency Irvine has been approached by several friends of mine to make enquires about the World Art Expo, which brought to light the fact that the hotel knows nothing about this event and hasn’t been booked for it. The first WORLD ART EXPO was supposed to take place this year. It didn’t…wonder why!?

To date not a single artist I now and am friends with has signed up for membership of the WAF or the WORLD ART EXPO – and if they have they will now most certainly have second thoughts.

The facts: when I first clicked on the links to artists nothing came up, so Marengo must have got his web designer out of bed to quickly update the site with some artist’s pages under Artists, Surrealists, Masters. None of my artist friends are members of the WAF and will not be attending the WORLD ART EXPO 2009, should it take place, which we very much doubt. It’s all a thinly veiled scam to make money out naïve, up-and coming artists. Also, just by the way, none of my friends consider themselves “surrealists”, which goes to show just how much Marengo knows about art.

I had a look at Florescu’s website http://www.florescugallery.com/ and see why he might have a problem getting his work shown by a legitimate gallery. His work is the worst kind of amateur kitsch no respectable gallery would be interested in. This is the kind of shit any other artist will become associated with that is so naïve as to sign up for Marengo’s expo should or should it not eventually take place, once he has your money in his bank account.

I ask meeting with him in New York and IO ask directly how much he was involved in this .

My expensive frames are still there . I can not get them . Because I was promised to move to California . I took many big paintings there . But He did not ewvenb have moiney to buy an hamburger . My Gallery from Turkey paid it .

Every morning he made a meeting . This meeting was with 10- till 15 same artist . He was talking all the dream and all was sitting and listening . Mostly looser werte there .

eventually amongst the art community and the artists matter get solved by civil communication.We have a responsibility for our members and those who believe in WAF. so we respond to all postings negative or positive. We are in the same industry. You are angry so we undestand the tone of your communications with us. One day we are going to meet in one of the expos or one of the gallery openings. I a sure we are going to shake hands and have a glass of wine. That is the way of the artists.

May this be the last of the negative emails. life today is very tough with the economic situation. We need all to work together and build a better industry. We are doing our best.

***WAF started in February first 2009. The only income waf gets is the membership fee. Membership started at $25 and gradually increased to $100. Most of the membership money goes to pay the webmaster and the maintenance of the site.
the world art expo lost money as there was no entry fee, no exhibit fee or gate price.***

***The entire income form membership is less than $50,000. Hardly enough to pay one person's salary in California/ that is why Antoine and I donate our time to WAF and this is very tough on our family..***

The tour fee for the artists covers the expenses of the tour divided into 30 participants.

Many of the people who fought us in the early stages of WAF became at a later date members. We did not hold their negative comments stop us form receiving them as artist and a part of the family of WAF

When people are angry they say all kind of things. You are a talented artist and we wish you good luck.

then he told me i could join his brans new site , and would be a "master" !!!?!! if i paid the 35$ fee, and be represented on the site, ... i did... then he asked me if i would like to be appointed the manager of the WAF France group, and there i wanted to know what was going on with contracts, what all this meant as i was already in charge of promoting artists for my city i didn't want any confusion, so .... and this triggered everything, we decided to talk on skype ... there i discovered a man, that has physically nothing to do with his picture, with a thick russian or greek accent, i thought he was american, but ... why not... then he explained the project and as he did, it became clear hat his intentions were to get money out of artists, using people to create events all around the globe and participate in the growth of the "fantastic WAF", and i wonderdered about contracts ... no answer but this one, he said " this is the WAF foundation, not the Jeff Roland Foundation" erm erm... then, he showed me the so called "umbrella art magazines", and was explaining to me as if i was buying it and ready to be an accomplice, i quote " you take a paper , big paper, you print , and then you fold and cut, and there, you have a magazine;.." nothing really serious for someone who claims to be the publisher of 21 luxury magazines..; all this sounded very amateurish, and then there were after that call, in which i decided to stop my participation, not ready to use any power to con emergent or rather inexperienced artists in something that is to me, just another big pyramid scheme, in which you organise, or make other people organize an event and take the benfit for yourself...many other persons in the past have tried to convince other artists that this wasn't serious... but jojo doesn't hesitate to spam you inbox with numerous emails and waf things or waf that... until you lose patience and just join to be left alone, i know that in the past many persons or groups have been deleted from facebook for acting like this, but there seems toi be something that protects him...

The expo he organize d in california did happen, but, well, it's not that difficult to arrange an expo, but it is a bad thing to make people believe that all of a sudden, you are going to make it, with the help of a oh so generous organization, whose tastes in art, by the way are not always very good

So, if you want more info, google the thing , you will find info but know that everytime you'll find a jojo replying to the accusations sideways by not answering and just gloating about how big the org is, how great they are, but if you look closely, there has not been one single article by a serious art mag, or paper, not a mention by another site than theirs, all the publicity is functioning in a circle, that always lead to waf, you find an element and you have a proof that is in the waf site, never anywhere else

Jojo has not hesitated to threaten some of my friends and is certainly not a gentleman, maybe he thinks he is sincere, but at best a true and little amateur.

So now, when i see someone joining i feel my heart tightening because i love the arts and am involved in the defence of artists and i don't think they need this...it will be a nasty stain on their resumé and you can be sure that no major curator or gallery will contact you after that, this is for certain, this is in reality sad !!!; ▶ Reply to This

Here is just one of the emails I received from artist friends of mine to whose attention I had brought the fact that they were included on the WAF website without their knowledge or permission. In this case Laurie Lipton.

For those who still support con-artist, fraud and liar Marengo, his gang and the WAF scam let me go through his cut-and-paste reply to Laurie to highlight just a few of the claims and promises he made that have not been kept.

And always be very suspicious of people who can't spell!

1. "World Art Expo is the art event of the year. The WAExpo will be the most heavily advertised art event in Southern California. Hundreds of pages in our 21 upscale Southern California magazines will feature the event. Many pages will be contracted in numerous publications. Catalogues will be sent to the CEOs of the top 5,000 corporations listed in the Book of Lists - many of which are the clients of these galleries."

The WAF did not place even a single advert in the established mainstream art press. As for the 21 upscale magazines the claim to publish, only a handful of those listed on the Umbrella Publishing website are actually published and those are of the trash junkmail type of publication you throw in the trash can.

No catalogue was published.

2. "WORLD ART BOOK OF THE MASTERS. A book dedicated to showcasing the world’s most accomplished artists. To both the gallery and the collector it is an educational book whose purpose is to widen the scope of their vision about international artists and to stimulate their knowledge on artists who are making a difference in the art world.
In June 2009 the showcased artists of the World Art Book of the Masters, will gather at the WAExpo in Orange County, to share their knowledge and skills in a spirit of camaraderie and fun. I complained to him about using my name on his website without my permission, and he graciously took it off... but has been targeting me to join him. His brother has also asked to publish my work. Let’s start with the small stuff: can’t spell Africa and misspells Brajanne Jacob’s name. But he has published our names elsewhere and that will just add to all the trouble he has and will continue to have with us.

Liar Marengo claims I have said that “there is no Brea city in California”. I challenge him to quote and post a link to my words saying that. Besides my knowledge of and taste in art, my geography is also a great deal better than Marengo’s. It was in fact I who first contacted the director of the Brea Gallery to ask about Marengo and the WAF. The director had never heard of Marengo or the WAF until then. However, after receiving other enquiries from people who smelt a rat, he had a disclaimer published on the gallery’s website which read “Artist Alert : The City of Brea Art Gallery is NOT associated with the World Art Expo or its organizers.” Would he have published such a negative disclaimer if they in any way endorsed Marengo and his scam!? What the disclaimer means is that they are in NO way associated with and do NOT endorse the WAF. Yet liar Marengo, as always, lies and tries to turn this clear as crystal statement warning artists against Marengo and the WAF (that’s what “Artist Alert” in capitol letters means: it’s a WARNING not to have anything to do with them) on its head, making out as if he has their endorsement and support. He does NOT. Anyone who wants to can contact the director of the Brea Gallery to ask him themselves http://web.mac.com/breagallery/Site/Welcome_.html. Marengo even had his web designer steal the photo of the gallery from their home page and published on the WAF website together with his lies. If not prove that you are not the person behind these photos.

We "googe " you very thoroughly and know who you are, and all the evidence points to you. Besides which you have stated in a message to me on facebook that you fully support your relative George "Jojo" Marengo and his scam pyramid scheme.

Perhaps you should have considered the possible negative consequences for yourself before you sided with him.

You appear to have a short memory - I do not!

If it were not for that you would not have been found out...

It turns out that the fraudsters behind the fake 9/11 photos are none other than our George "Jo Jo" "WORLD ART FOUNDATION" Marengo and his namesake cuzywuzy http://www.facebook.com/people/George-Marengo/1613121140 in New York, who operates the "Move Master" removal company http://movemaster.us/: "PLEASE ANSWER SIX QUESTIONS BELOW NOW - Get Five Dollars Off - NOW." WOW!!! - all of "FIVE DOLLARS OFF - NOW."!!! - You'll make FAT shits from that "discount" for sure!!!

His relative has accused us of making false allegations here, all of which we have proven to the very hilt, and slandered and threatened us for exposing him and his scam.
